The language of spirit

Every so often someone will ask why dreams have to be so complicated, why they have to be analyzed and interpreted. And for a long time, I wondered too, why couldn’t spirit just come out and say whatever the message was rather than making it necessary to decipher the symbology.

There are a lot of potential activities going on in our sleep state. We may be sorting out the previous day’s activities, solving a problem, traveling around in the astral, getting a visitation from a spirit, angel or friend or family member who has passed (or not passed yet even) or the ever-popular message from spirit to help us in our spiritual growth, and more.

And the reason we have to look at our dreams symbolically is that several of these activities can and often are occurring at once. Dreams operate at various levels simultaneously – messages within messages within messages in many cases.

When a person goes to a dreamworker, hopefully they will get one who is intuitive as well as experienced and learned in the art of dreamwork – one who will be able to zero in on the level of the dream most relevant to the dreamer at that time. Of course, the dreamworker could analyze all the possible meanings and activities in the dream – but that would be one lonnnnngggg reading .

Another reason dream are symbolic, imo, is to serve as a reminder that life is but a dream also. Our earthly pursuits are but metaphors for our quest for spiritual growth and fulfillment. If we would but apply dream language to our daily activities, we would gain a lot more understanding of our spiritual path and purpose.
